Okay, just to let everyone know this has nothing to do with my post about firefox. I haven't even installed it yet.
Just recently my internet explorer keeps telling me that it is running without ad-ons of any kind like active X or anything from Microsoft. However, when I go to the tools menu and hit the manage ad-ons, most of the ones listed there say they are enabled and it wants to know if I want to disable them.
It also told me to shut down IE and then try restarting it and I did and get the same message about no running ad-ons.
I tried going to start menu, all programs, to acceswsories to system and hitting IE through there because the program says that sometimes you can temporarily disable ad-ons that way and then if you shut down IE and restart; they will be active again.
This is not happening and I have no idea what to do.
Sometimes I also get a message about I'm running an older version of IE and to upgrade to IE8, but I've been running IE8 for months. So, I don't understand this message either.
Okay, so everyone knows I'm running:
Windows XP home addition
jaws 9.0.1
IE8
msn for windows
This is not a laptop, but a desktop model and everything was working fine until yesterday and I don't know what happened.
Chastity
I have some ideas, but here is the best one.
Due to Internet 8 being new Microsoft can and will help you get it running correctly. The add ons are no big deal and will add as needed, but if you want it set, and want to make sure you have no other issues Microsoft will connect to your computer remotely and fix it. Go to the site, click on the help on the IE page, and get the number and call. Sorry I don't have it. My other ideas are trial and and miss then try the next, but this one will get you fixed up period.
Thanks. I'll try that. It's just annoying as everything was working fine and then not and I visit quite a few sites that use the active X control and now it's not even alerting me to see if I want to install it or not.
You know IE 8 doesn't seem to really make a big alert production like IE 7 did. You kind of know you need and active exe control when your download isn't going. But the rest Microsoft will fix, due to this being a new product.
Does microsoft charge for helping you with their products? Somebody once told me they did. Hope you got IE 8 fixed.
